Our Process

BECAUSE WE CARE ABOUT YOU AND THE PLANET.

From Pasture To Your Feet

Our textiles are created using the finest baby alpaca wool in order to produce the highest quality products possible. Alpaca wool is one of the strongest animal fibers after mohair and is known for being lightweight, warm, hypoallergenic and water resistant--not to mention, the alpacas love their occasional sheering!
Our wool comes from happy alpacas that live high in the Andes mountains and roam on many kilometers of pasture. Though friendly, do be careful, they have a propensity to spit if you get too close!

The wool is hand-dyed and spun into yarn

The weavers Passeri partners with use local plants, herbs, and all natural ingredients to dye their alpaca wool. The use of natural elements to create our hues punctuates our commitment to the slow fashion movement.
Our weavers typically hand spin their wool. Though time consuming, they are often seen spinning the wool
while walking.

Step by Step

Every stitch is hand-woven with the utmost care. Each part of the shoe is given individual attention, from cutting the fabric, to measuring each size individually and hand punching eyelet holes. This process is one that takes extreme care and focus on what may seem to others as insignificant details.

We partner with local cobblers from Cusco Peru

Our partners in Cusco have been trained by the most talented cobblers in South America. This process is truly an art and a privilege to witness. These artisans are the physical embodiment of the term "hand-made," stitching love into every aspect of their shoes.

The start of a long process begins with simple materials

At Passeri we source our products from all over Peru. The "plantillas" (inserts), the "plantuflas" (soles), and the "tacos" (heels), all come from Arequipa, as it is a commercial and manufacturing hub in Peru that links the coast and the mountains. Our leather is also sourced from this region. Many of our accessories are found in the long streets of Lima, filled with option after option of boot buckle or branding tag. When we say every part of these shoes are from Peru, we mean it!
