Awakenings Project: Antiracism
Nice people can be racist. Racism isn't about intentionality, it's about thought, talk, & behaviors that perpetuate unjust systems that thwart non-White people's opportunity to thrive. White people created the system, it's their responsibility to dismantle it. Join our walk to become anti-racist.

About the event
You are invited to participate in a 4-session cohort program that brings White people together to discuss our complicity in and responsibility for racism. This is hosted by the HumanKind Foundation and is called The HumanKind Foundation Awakenings Project. Why for White people? Foremost, it's because it is not Black or Brown people's job to teach White people about racism. The systems and structures that created racism were created by White people, thus it requires White people to dismantle them. It is time, and this is an opportunity, for White people to gather, be vulnerable and uncomfortable, and together confront our own biases and begin to think and behave as anti-racist. If you do not identify socially as White, but would like to participate in this program, please contact Dr. Verhoye at HumanKind.Today@gmail.com to see if the program would be a good fit for you.Â
Given space is limited and this curriculum builds, a commitment to all 4 session is required. We hope you decide to take this walk with us to learn about racism. It matters.
Dates: November 8, 15, 22 and December 6; 6-8 pm CST
